I Have Nothing To Say and I’m Saying It
This song is just the voice of a young, somewhat overly emotional man in his early twenties that’s talking to his ex-girlfriend in attempts to try and convince her to get back together with him. As a somewhat overly emotional man in his early twenties who has talked to his ex-girlfriend in attempts to try and convince her to get back together with him, myself I could certainly relate. But it’s not supposed to be anything spectacular, or even a direct reference to anything in my personal life, in fact it’s supposed to be quite the opposite of spectacular. It’s supposed to be a single on a different album, by a different band/artist. It’s supposed to sound very out of place, lyrically and instrumentally in this album. But then again, everything is supposed to be out of place in this album. Since I used standard emo chords and riffs, I made the lyrics obnoxiously emotional and vague. “Sometimes, I feel as though as I might fall, into the center of your skull. There’s a light with your initials on it here, it brings the wonders of your world that eats and sleeps and radiance. I wanna find that love again. So much for forgetting you”. Wtf does that pile of horseshit mean? Well it’s pretty obvious actually. I love the power behind emo music, I love the energy and the musicianship, but the lyrics are, for the most part at least, self-obsessed, disorganized, boring drivel. So I thought I’d write a song like that for the album. I referred to how cliché the lyrics are in the following track in which the singer/songwriter of the track, Rodd Walsh, reveals in an interview that he’s just another predictable, stoner musician from California who wrote a few catchy songs. Every song on this album no matter what the tone has some dark element to it. This is the one song out of all of them that does not. It’s supposed to be happy and optimistic and celebratory and although the lyrics are pretty sappy and lame, sometimes you want to listen to a song that’s sappy and lame. You might just be in that kind of mood. A lot of people, probably a vast majority actually, exclusively listen to those types of songs.

lyrics

Sometimes,
I feel as though I might just fall
Into the center of your skull
Everyone else seems so dull
There’s a light with your initials on it here
It brings the wonders
Of your world
That eats and breathes and sleeps
In radiance
I wanna find that love again
So much for forgetting you

And I don’t really care
Just where we go from here
As long as we never look back and shame ourselves
As long as we never look with hate
As long as we always promise to move ahead
As long as we always promise to wait
I’m here to wait
For you
