Glory Hole
Religion is a concept that has become integral to Lord Gorgeous. It can be both beautiful and horrific, which is essentially the sound we’ve always tried to cultivate. The interlude contains a woman softly reading an evening prayer, underneath her spoken word are two polarized instrumental loops. The first loop is dark and ominous while the second is light and euphoric. The two background loops completely change the tone of the total sound even though the prayer never changes. The same prayer can be seen as both ominous and glorious, only the background noise specifies which vibe is felt. I’ve found that prayers and instrumental loops work perfectly when superimposed because they are both intrinsically repetitive. The prayer seems to persistently pound the same ideas into the listeners head, over and over again just like a drawn out instrumental loop. The melodic substance of the loop itself, however, can set the tone for how the prayer is interpreted. The title of the song is just a bit of juvenile wordplay. It ties the similarity between religious themes and sordid sexual artifacts.
A mind-blowing batch of jazz-informed hardcore exploding with drill-press riffing and throat-destroying howls. Really great! Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 6, 2022
